This list includes episodic care concerns that are often suitable for virtual care, but it's important to assess each case individually to ensure it's appropriate for remote treatment. The NP has the right to decline inappropriate requests.
Unsuitable Concerns
Breathing Difficulties:

Severe asthma attacks

Significant wheezing or gasping for air
Complicated or Unclear Symptoms:

Complex conditions needing diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays)

Symptoms that require physical examination (e.g., palpation of the abdomen, reflex tests)

Unintentional weight loss
Emergencies:

Chest pain or suspected heart attack
-
Loss of consciousness
-
Seizures
-
Severe abdominal pain
-
Severe burns
-
Severe shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
-
Stroke symptoms (e.g., sudden numbness, difficulty speaking)

Traumatic injuries (e.g., deep cuts, fractures, head injuries)

Intense or Unmanageable Pain:

Severe pain not relieved by over-the-counter medications

Sudden, intense headaches (especially if different from usual headaches)

Mental Health Crises:

Psychosis or severe changes in mental state

Suicidal thoughts or behaviors
Neurological Issues:

Severe Infections:

High fever with chills or confusion

Suspected sepsis (signs include rapid heart rate, extreme fatigue, confusion)
Uncontrolled Bleeding:

Bleeding that soaks through bandages

Heavy bleeding from any site that doesn’t stop with pressure

Unexplained Weight Loss or Fevers:

Prolonged fevers without an obvious cause​
